Why Cleanse? Did you know that Winter is time where your digestive fire is the strongest? The cold weather helps ignite your digestive capacity, as your body needs more fuel to stay healthy and warm during the Winter months. In yoga’s sister science, Ayurveda, cleansing in Winter helps counter the dry, cold, light and windy time of year. Despite popular diet trends that often come with New Year’s resolutions and restrictions, you’ll see that our “cleanse” looks a lot different. There is no juicing, no fasting, no starving… which can lead – especially in Winter – to Vata imbalances such as dryness, anxiety, lack of grounding, and poor energy and digestion. Instead think fresh, nourishing foods full of seasonal vegetables, spiced with warming, pungent herbs and foods such as cardamon, ginger, cinnamon, clove, & coriander. Golden Milk everyday?
